Pets — especially birds, cats, and small mammals — have significantly more sensitive respiratory systems than humans. Incense cones produce real smoke, and in a poorly ventilated, enclosed space, that smoke can irritate their airways over time.

This doesn't mean incense is inherently harmful, but it does mean ventilation is non-negotiable when pets are present.

Birds: Extra Caution Required
